Hurricane Grove

Hurricane Grove (named after the WW2 fighter plane, not the Tunstall weather), is on the edge of some of the newest housing within the area I am doing my Streets Project. Built on what was an area known as Newfields it was poor quality rough land. The area was built after Reginald Mitchell Way was built, the housing is private or private rented, it’s gardens and spaces are aging pleasantly, it’s boring and hard to find any interest in, unless you went behind the curtains! It’s the sort of estate that the people in the terraces would probably love to live in.

  1. Having lived in two of these new build estates in the past I’d hate to go back, they are a sterile existence where people nod but never actually acknowledge each other. Give me a proper community any day.
