Clanway Street

clan8

My last posting from my Streets Project was of Clanway Lane, I took photographs of Clanway Street last March and they show a very different street. This began as a short street of terraced houses in the 1880’s off Furlong Road and was added to in the 1930’s onwards until it reached Clanway Lane. The newer housing is a mix of bungalows, semi’s and council houses. There are a couple of corner shops at the bottom of the street. Behind the street at one time ran a railway line which is now open space called Tunstall Greenway, where with a few breaks you can walk all the way into the city centre.
