Renegade Readers – January 29th 2015

Renegade Readers met again in Newcastle under Lyme Library and we welcomed yet another new member. As we left the snow was falling heavily which fitted well one of the books read out.

Today’s selection included –

Pablo Neruda‘s poem (read beautifully in it’s original Spanish and a translation) So That You Will Hear Me

Jackie Kay‘s poem SassenachsJackie Kay reading Old Tongue

A selection from Eowyn Ivey‘s novel The Snow Child

A selection from Emile Zola‘s novel The Fortune of the Rougons

Kit Wright‘s poem Useful Person

Dermot Bolgers very moving poem The Empty Car from The Venice Suite (a link to an RTE recording of the whole collection)

Another wide ranging collection and as always it is so enjoyable to hear people read to you, especially work you don’t know or have forgotten about. If you wish to attend the next meeting at at 11am on Thursday February 26th at Newcastle under Lyme Library, you can come along and read something or like some people comealong and listen and join in the conversation.
