Renegade Readers May 25th 2017

Before we began we participated in the nationwide one minute silence for the victims of the Manchester bombing earlier that week.

Seven people attended on what was a hot day and as always a wide range of pieces were read and discussed, they included:

A passage from John Berger‘s collection of short writings and poems And Our Faces; My Heart; Brief As Photos

Poems from a 1967 collection called ‘Commonwealth Poems of Today’ including –

Elizabeth Jennings‘ ‘Warning to Parents

Fleur Adcock‘s For a Five-Year-old’

A chapter from Mike Dooley‘s ‘Leveraging the Universe and Engaging the Magic’

A passage from David Mitchell‘s novel ‘Black Swan Green’

Diana Athill‘s poem ‘The Gift’

Renegade Readers will meet again on Thursday June 29th from 11am until 1pm at Newcastle-under-Lyme Library, all are most welcome to attend whether to read something or to listen. There is no charge, no theme.
