Cracks – for The Brownfield Research Centre

Last Sunday (8th July), I went with some other photographers to the huge brownfield site where many years ago stood the Sun Street Stadium in Hanley, and took some photographs which I have sent to The Brownfield Research Centre taking place at AirSpace Gallery and includes works by Rodrigo Arteaga at the City Museum.

I started my initial idea but quickly realised that wouldn’t work, so began the other idea I had worked on in my sketchbook; this was to follow the cracks (from eye height) in the man-made surfaces which have now been taken over by plant life. I have long been fascinated by these and this will begin a new series to explore over time. These images are made up of between 10-15 individual images then put together in Photoshop. creating long narrow images. I see these being between 6 and 8 feet long to be at their most effective, so please click on them to enlarge.
